Sometimes it feels like the main threads in your life all come together.
dissent expresses a period where a number of things converged and came into focus for us.
Our love of traditional English music; the region in which we live; the other artists and writers who have lived here, and our background as Quakers were all shouting for attention.
John Clare, spent the last 23 years of his life living at the bottom of our road in the then Northampton Asylum. Many of the tunes are versions collected from Northamptonshire and surrounding counties. Sidney Carter was a great Quaker writer.
There is all this commonality against the back bone of dissent and the notion of non conformity; the sense of constant change and tradition; and the paradox of individuality and relationship.
There are no conclusions - just an invitation.
